Interest Check For Various Things or "How's Moley going to avoid Amecon?"

Ok I've been steadily working on things I can do to make peoples con time more fun and after chatting with various people and seeing what's about I've narrowed it down to a few things that people would be interested in. I can run all of them, altho I'll need a hell of a run-up for them but hell I did something silly like 49 hours of gophering at Aya last year, I can manage it.
Right so here's what I'm planning, please vote and comment on what you think of them so I know what's a hit and what's not.
Traditional Games Room:
I ran one at Aya last year for those of you who found us. It's somewhere for people to chill out and play CCGs and board games. Those that managed the walk out to us seemed to really enjoy it and I hope to repeat the success of it. There will be whatever I can pack into a crate and drag down with me, it's a good place to come chill out and socialise over a game or two. I can run tournaments for just about any CCG you care to name and if all goes to plan I may have some games which are in playtesting for people to play at the con.
Artistic Violence:
I've studied various easten and westen martial arts over my life and if people are interested I can show them what goes into them and common links between them. I'm not Bruce Lee and barring Iaido I'm not very far along with most of them but I do have 2 older brothers and I come from a rough town so if you're interested in finding out what goes into knocking the **** out of someone and how various weapons are/were used this is a good talk for you. I will also attempt to answer the age old "What is the best weapon?" and "Who would win in a fight between X and Y?" with actual evidence to support it. Artists feel free to come along so you can add some accuracy to your fight scenes and combat. Together we can stamp out the scourge of weeaboo fightan magic.
You Too Can Be A Game Monkey:
I design and playtest games freelance and have done for a while. If you'd like to know what goes into making a game and how to make one fun I'll be happy to push information into your head. I warn you this will not allow you to get a job in the games industry or suddenly make you SUPA AWESUMS AT HALOZ but it should give you a good start in creating something fun. Over the course of the talk the whole group will design a game and then you can drag it around the con getting people to play it. You'll also find out just how much math goes into a good game and why all players are dumb and shouldn't be allowed to play games. Yes, that means you.
Tiny Tiny Little Men:
I'm a big time fan of miniatures and model kits while I know there's a Gunpla event in the works I'll be happy to show people the OCD guide to assembling miniatures of all kinds, resin, plastic and metal. From 5mm historical all the way to the 1/6th scale large breasted anime girls I can show you some tricks and tools that can make life much easier and your figs look far better.
So please vote and chat about what's going on, any questions I'll try to answer them quickly. Also if there's a Omake I promise that I'll acctually take part this year and do some stand up. Even if I have to kneecap someone to watch my room while I do it.

Me and a friend are looking at running a Magic the Gathering Booster Draft again like I did a few years back (only this time with more serious sets ;D), so if you're having a whole room devoted to these kinds of games perhaps we should have a talk about holding it in there?

Another vote for go and mahjong. Is there any chance of having the games rooms closer to the action this year? They were somewhat out of the way at Warwick, and I rarely found the chance to go to them.
Would people be interested in some sort of all-weekend go tournament?

You should run a panel or two, and become more involved in the actual con, instead of being stuck in a room somewhere, watching people play the same card games you have to watch them play all day.
The Games Monkey idea is really good. Maybe a panel on traditional gaming, or the links between anime and gaming, or just anything gaming-related that lets you entertain people, instead of babysitting a room full of prize support.
Keep in mind that when August rolls around, there might not be a Traditional Gaming scene anymore in the UK anymore. There definately won't be any Yu-Gi-Oh on store shelves after this summer, Wizards Of The Coast are on the brink of making some make-or-break business deicions, which will almost certainly mean there's little or no Magic The Gathering on sale. All the anime-based TCGs are dead, because the only people keeping them alive were gobbled up by Upper Deck last year.
Upper Deck are now completely gone, and they're never coming back, in any capacity, ever. Everyone who ever had anything to do with Upper Deck or Yu-Gi-Oh is working elsewhere.
I can't talk about Tomy for obvious reasons, but I'd suggest that you'll either be running a "Tomy Room" or a "Board Games Room", come August. They're the only company who will be interested in supporting Organised Play, come August. Make a panel, before you learn to hate the Gaming Industry as much as most people do right now

I know what you mean Tyma, altho the Wizards one was a surprise, I'm guessing that the dark lord hasbro has something to do with that malarky.
I'll be honest the trad games room was more for people to play Go and the like, after Aya I realised that CCGs are definately not the way to go with those things, I should have a spare couple of boxes of magic by then so a draft wouldn't hurt but otherwise it was going to be a chillout space for people to get some use out of my societies games in the summer holidays.
On the side of panels I'm thinking having the room running through the con and then also using it for panels would be for the best. I've got quite a few ideas in the old brain for things to do so I can easily fill up time. But I just want to run the room because I want people playing trad games rather than because I want people to come to my room and praise me. Altho that would be nice as well.
One other thing I was hoping to do at Ame was test out some games I've been working on, most of them will never see sale but I'd like to hear what people think to make my portfolio a little more well rounded.
I'll be updating this thread soon with more details on what I'll be doing for each of the panels.

There are some good ideas here. I'd add other boardgames to the list for the traditional room though. Some anima tactics or infinity or something. Perhaps a few GM-ed games of Big Eyes Small Mouth or, god forbid, MAID RPG! What? It can be fun having a party of mad maids trying to outdo each other and can be adapted.
CCGs are cool too so I think you could easily generate some interest in things Moley ^^

Ok folks bumping this thread because I'll be sending off the details of what I want to do over Ame to Myst-Chan after Expo and I want a clear idea of what people want going on in my area rather than **** about like I did at Aya last year.
Because there's been some talk on another thread about doing games design I'll make this perfectly clear here. I will be talking about design concepts within pen and paper games and developing concepts within a given framework. All useful stuff in the games industry but if you're looking for a "How to make the next final fantasy" panel you won't find it here.
With luck I should have a room for the con somewhere near the action so I may arrange multiple panels for various things over the course of the weekend so people have stuff to do rather than just play board games and argue.
Also if no-one is currently running it I'll be happy to run a panel on Gunpla and the like along with "How to Make the Funny" which will be a very rough guide on how to do stand-up comedy and make the funny at people.
.....also there may or may not be a session of AND LO! but if there is I ask that no-one take any kind of audio or video record of it.
