Okay quick question as on the 3D Map of the site, I do see a bank or banks listed next to the shops. Does anyone who knows the site know how many cash points there are? because I want to know if I need to bring pleanty of cash from the town. I know some dealer take Plastic, but alot of the small items to buy from say the bring and buy need hard cold cash. And well the Cash Points at Leicester usually run dry around mid day on sunday.

There are two cashpoints and a Bank on that corner. I ca'nt for the life in me remember if there was one at the sport center too, I think there was, but don't hold me to that.

Yeah, the best advice I can give con-newbies who plan to spend money, is to withdraw however much you want to spend pre-con, and keep it in a very safe place. That way you're not letting yourself be victim to cashmachine queues or emptiness. Also, if you really DO have a hardcap on how much you can spend, I reccommend leaving all plastic at home.

Pubs, Shops etc. that could be handy?

Just to confirm Hooker's post that cash point at the co-op does indeed have a free cash point outside, and not too much further away going towards newcastle there is a Morrisons which has a couple of cash points on it, and of course will provide cash back.

There's a cash point at Keele Services but it's a half hour walk from the University and it has a service charge. How much I don't know, but it being a Service Station I'd expect it to be on the high side.

Although I probably won't be needing a cashpoint, just want to say thanks for reminding me! I bring cash pre-con, but had completely forgotten to add it to my packing list this time around.

There will be a 'general information' email going out to all members very soon, we mention cash points in it, but since this thread has cropped up I may as well post it here:-

There are various cash-points on site, however neither AmeCon nor Keele University have any influence over how often the banks refill these cash points. If you plan to carry large amounts of cash with you during the weekend, please be aware that Keele University is still open to the public (and other events) during the weekend, so we advise attendees to be as cautious with your wallet as you would in any public place.

There :)

The cash points at are Union is notorious for running out, and that's just during regular term time. I would highly advise everyone to withdraw any money they need before heading down, being strapped for cash is one of those problems that hurts and not easily remedied.

I always get most of my cash about before I go. Makes things much easier to manage.
