Get involved

How can I get involved?

AmeCon events wouldn’t be at all possible without the active work of our community, and there are loads of ways you can get involved.

When Events submissions open, we will be looking to curate a wide range of attendee run events, and this is your chance to celebrate your fandom in whatever way you choose. It can be a simple Ted Talks style panel with a slideshow as a good visual hook, it could be a quiz or gameshow, you could choose to demonstrate some craft or skill of yours that you enjoy, or even maybe an open discussion about something. As long as you make it fun and friendly to the crowd, we want to hear your ideas.

The biggest way you can support us (and in fact any fan-run con you may go to) is by volunteering your time to help with some of the hundreds of little tasks that are necessary to make a convention like this happening. Some events call these volunteers Stewards, or Guardians. We call them Gophers.

It is a well used, and much said, phrase, but conventions just couldn’t run without a group of friendly volunteers like our Gophers who offer a little of their time at the con to help out with all sorts of behind-the-scenes stuff. It’s a great way to meet new people as well, with some solid friendships being made, and it can give you a good peek at what running a con undertakes.

If any of this sounds like something you want to take part in, keep an eye on this website, on our Discord or on our social media, because we will announce when we open up Event submissions or Gopher sign ups.
